Greenville, S.C. – Big news is brewing over at the YMCA of Greenville! On November 11, 2024, the organization announced a major promotion that’s sure to make a splash in the community. Meet Barbie Jefferson, who has stepped into the role of Executive Vice President and Chief Operating and Financial Officer. With a vision and passion for service, Barbie is ready to lead the charge in uplifting the Greenville community through programs focused on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
In her new position, Barbie will be taking the reins and steering the *YMCA of Greenville* toward greater heights. With responsibilities that range from overseeing membership growth to developing community relations, she is gearing up to make a significant impact. Plus, Barbie will handle the financial side of things, managing budgets, fiscal planning, and ensuring everything is compliant with accounting principles. It’s a big job, but Barbie is more than equipped to tackle it!
Previously, she served as the Chief Financial Officer, and during that time, she proved herself invaluable by supporting various initiatives and providing strategic insights. Since joining the *YMCA of Greenville* in 2018, she’s dedicated her efforts to enhancing the organization’s mission.
Feeling passionate about her new role, Barbie expressed, “I look forward to continuing my life’s work with the YMCA of Greenville, helping to build a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.” It’s clear she cares deeply about making a difference in the community and ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
Barbie’s transition comes with high praise from her colleagues. Sam Franklin, the president and CEO of the YMCA of Greenville, remarked, “Barbie’s organizational vision and operational strategy aligns and supports the strategic direction of the YMCA of Greenville and that has, and will continue to, tremendously impact our community.” There’s no doubt her expertise will help to enhance the Y’s outreach and initiatives.
Alongside her responsibilities at the YMCA, Barbie is involved in several professional organizations, including the Greenville Professional Women’s Forum where she serves as the VP of Logistics. She’s not just a number-cruncher; she’s well-respected in her field, having been a guest speaker on finance podcasts and even named one of TALK Magazine’s 25 Most Beautiful Women of the Upstate in 2021. It’s safe to say she’s a powerhouse!
The YMCA of Greenville is committed to promoting from within and developing its leadership. With Barbie at the helm, the organization continues to build on its mission and advocate for the health and wellness of the community. This dedication to internal growth and leadership development means that the Y is not just in good hands—it’s in great hands!
