I love the commitment of Windy City Burgers. Located in the heart of downtown Greenville, this burger joint is a hidden gem that packs a punch with its delicious food and friendly staff. From the moment you step through the door, you are greeted with a warm smile and a genuine “Hey folks, come on in! What can we do for you?”
Despite its small size of less than 900 square feet, Windy City Burgers manages to make a big impression. The staff handcrafts their burger patties every day, using a mixture of beef and pork belly that they grind themselves. The sesame seed buns are made fresh, using only water, flour, yeast, salt, and sesame seeds. And let’s not forget the fries, made from fresh Idaho potatoes and served piping hot.
Owner Nicole O’Brien, a Chicago native, knows that it takes more than just great food to make a restaurant successful. She understands the importance of making customers feel welcome and valued. When I spoke with her about the friendliness of Windy City, she shared, “When someone opens the door to Windy City, I want them to feel like they’ve just walked into a family party. We go out of our way to make people feel welcome.”
And it’s not just talk. O’Brien recounted a funny story about the time Mayor Knox White visited Windy City and was mistaken for a regular customer. “We didn’t recognize him, and one of our team members asked him if he worked downtown because we offer delivery. We just wanted him to know. It turns out he does work downtown,” O’Brien laughed.
It’s stories like these that showcase Windy City’s commitment to treating every customer like family. As O’Brien explained, “A great meal should be an experience. A restaurant should make you feel special, like you’re part of this secret club. That’s what we aim to achieve at Windy City.”
And achieve it they do. Windy City may be small, but it’s far from a secret. On any given day, you’ll find a line of customers eagerly waiting for their handcrafted burgers. The restaurant’s commitment to cleanliness, friendliness, and high-quality food sets it apart from the competition.
In a world where fast food is often the norm, it’s refreshing to see a place like Windy City that prioritizes quality over quantity. The staff takes pride in their work and it shows in every bite. From the first taste of the perfectly seasoned patty to the last bite of the soft sesame seed bun, every element of Windy City’s burgers is crafted with love and care.
So, the next time you’re in downtown Greenville and craving a burger with a side of friendliness, be sure to pay a visit to Windy City Burgers. You won’t be disappointed. Plus, where else can you enjoy a delicious meal in such a warm and welcoming atmosphere?
Windy City Burgers is located at 12 E. Coffee St. and is open Tuesdays through Saturdays for lunch and dinner, or until they run out of burgers. So, hurry on over and experience the magic of Windy City for yourself!
