Greenville will soon welcome its first Whataburger restaurant, located at 1466 Woodruff Road. The Texas-based fast food chain has announced they will open their doors on Monday, July 29, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony beginning at 11 a.m. This will be one among seven planned Whataburger establishments in the Upstate region by 2025, marking South Carolina as the 16th state to house the franchise.
Whataburger’s expansion initiative doesn’t stop at Greenville. On July 16, a restaurant was inaugurated in Boiling Springs at 3647 Boiling Springs Road, setting the tone for a slew of subsequent openings across the Upstate. By summer 2025, seven additional storefronts are projected to open in localities such as Irmo, Mauldin, Anderson, Spartanburg, Columbia, Lexington, Easley and Duncan.
For first-timers dining at Whataburger, a spokesperson has disclosed the public’s favorite menu items. Among the most popular selections is ‘Whatameal’ – a combination of a customized burger, fries or onion rings and a soft drink. The Buffalo ranch chicken strip sandwich is their top-listed non-beef option, whereas the Honey butter chicken biscuit sits on the breakfast throne. When it comes to condiments, the chain’s house special – Fancy ketchup and spicy ketchup – rule the roost.
Harmon Dobson, in 1950, birthed Whataburger in Corpus Christi, Texas. The chain now prides itself on serving burgers made with 100% beef on a five-inch toasted bun across 1,030 stores in 16 states. Their diversified menu, offering chicken sandwiches, wholesome salads, shakes, and delicious desserts, is up for grabs around the clock. Their breakfast servings can be enjoyed from 11 p.m. until 11 a.m. With the upcoming Greenville location, customers can look forward to enjoying their Whataburger favorites 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
