Watson Engineering Car Show to raise funds for Piedmont charities – March 30

The Watson Engineering 2024 Car Show will be held on Saturday, March 30 from 11 am until 4 pm at the Watson Engineering located at 1350 Shiloh Church Road in Piedmont.

Car enthusiasts and community members are invited to attend the event, which will feature a display of various cars. There is a $10 entry fee per car, and for more information on entering the car show, please contact Jim Worley at 864-325-4430 or by email at jimw@watsoneng.com.

In Memory of Chuck Watson, Sr.

This year’s show is dedicated to the memory of Chuck Watson, Sr. As a tribute to his legacy, all proceeds from the car show entries will be evenly divided between two Piedmont community charities – the Rose Hill Cemetery and Piedmont Village Christmas Lights, Inc.

Supporting Important Community Causes

The Rose Hill Cemetery, established in 1878 and previously maintained by Piedmont Manufacturing Company and JP Stevens, has been under the care of the Rose Hill Cemetery Association since 1986. The association relies on donations to maintain the cemetery, with sponsors noting that maintenance costs total around $1500 for a single cut.

Piedmont Village Christmas Lights, Inc., a charity organized three years ago, has been instrumental in enhancing the holiday spirit in the area. Through donations, the organization has purchased 55 Christmas pole lights stretching from Dr. Cook’s dental office on Highway 86 to Highway 20, as well as a 25-foot Christmas tree with a three-foot star. Additionally, festive decorations including lights on the river and the dam have been added to the Christmas village displays.

Event Highlights

Attendees can look forward to the famous Midge Davis Brunswick Stew, available for purchase starting at 11 am. Music, entertainment, and a 50/50 raffle will also be part of the event, with tickets available for purchase. The raffle drawing is scheduled for 3 pm.

If anyone is interested in sponsoring the event, they can contact Marsha Rogers at 864-630-2466 or by email at mar0524@aol.com, or Angela Boggs at 864-420-4504. Sponsors will receive recognition in the event flyer and on the entertainment stage during the event.

Joining Hands for a Good Cause

The Watson Engineering Car Show serves as an opportunity for the community to come together in support of important local charities. By participating in the event, attendees can contribute towards the upkeep and improvement of the Rose Hill Cemetery and the enhancement of the Piedmont Village Christmas Lights display.

It’s a chance for car enthusiasts and residents alike to enjoy a day filled with classic cars, good food, music, and entertainment, all while making a positive impact on the community.
