Greenville, SC – Grab-and-go lunch spot The Walkabout, located near Fluor Field and next door to The Bellwether Public House, has officially closed after less than a year in business. The eatery first opened in September 2023 at 941 S. Main St. serving a wide variety of sandwich options from chicken bahn mi to pimento cheese grilled cheese. The concept was a collaboration between The Bellwether and Urban Wren in downtown Greenville.

Justin McKelley, general manager of The Bellwether, confirmed the closure. He said that it had to do with a combination of issues but that the shop wasn’t turning the profit the team hoped.

“It was not making anywhere near enough money to cover having somebody scheduled to work over there, or the cost of the food,” McKelley said.

No word yet on what may come into the space next door to The Bellwether.
