Limestone University has decided to cancel classes on Monday, September 30, due to fuel shortages and ongoing power outages. The university is assessing the situation daily to ensure the safety of its community. Similarly, Anderson University has also suspended classes and activities through Tuesday. Students are encouraged to return home if it is safe to do so.
Furman University’s campus is closed through Wednesday due to a lack of power, with Duke Power indicating that restoration might not happen until Tuesday. All classes and activities are canceled during this time. Wofford College has also announced a cancellation of classes through Tuesday.
All campuses of Spartanburg Community College will be closed until Monday, while Spartanburg Methodist College has canceled classes for the entire week. USC Upstate closed its campus through Monday with classes canceled through Tuesday. Converse University has also announced a suspension of classes through Monday due to similar challenges.
Anderson County schools will observe an e-Learning Day on Monday, September 30, with flexibility offered for families without access to power or the internet. Meanwhile, Greenville County Schools have announced closures for both Monday and Tuesday as widespread outages hinder e-learning. All Spartanburg County school districts are also closed on Monday and Tuesday, with notes that e-learning may not be possible due to the outages.
