The Upstate Fatherhood Coalition, based in Greenville, South Carolina, is dedicated to engaging fathers to positively support their children and enhance community support for dads throughout the Upstate. The Upstate Fatherhood Coalition is always seeking community partners, volunteers, and donors to support their cause. Community partners range from local law enforcement and family court judges to health clinics and churches interested in helping fathers succeed. The organization also welcomes volunteers and donors for various roles, from serving as board members to facilitating peer support groups.
Through 630 referrals from the South Carolina Department of Social Services, the Upstate Fatherhood Coalition has saved taxpayers a significant $1.1 million. Furthermore, the organization has positively impacted the lives of 687 children by providing support and resources to their fathers.
The Upstate Fatherhood Coalition relies on grants and fundraising efforts for its operations. Approximately 95% of the organization’s funding comes from grants, while the remaining 5% is generated through fundraising events and donations from generous supporters.
The Upstate Fatherhood Coalition is led by executive director Kelly Walker. The board of directors includes individuals passionate about the organization’s mission, such as Terrie McGill (board chair), Quonsetta Salters (vice chairman), Tonia Wideman (secretary), Brandon Leonard (treasurer), Alex Simmons, and Andrew Bursing.
The Upstate Fatherhood Coalition is hosting the Driving Dads to Excellence Charity Golf Tournament on September 20, 2024, at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Greenville Golf Resort & Conference Center. The event aims to raise funds and awareness for the organization’s initiatives in supporting fathers and families in the community.
