Greenville, S.C. has a somber shadow hanging over it as the community reflects on a tragic incident that took place back in 2019. The Greenville Police Department is reaching out to the public once again, asking for information regarding the cold case murder of Roger Taylor Belton, a 55-year-old whose life was cruelly cut short.

A Night of Tragedy

On October 27, 2019, Roger, affectionately known by friends as “Horse,” was discovered shot to death at the Stratham Place Apartments, located at 207 Shaw Street. Witnesses recalled hearing multiple gunshots ringing out around 4 a.m. that fateful day, sending a wave of panic through the neighborhood.

A Heartbreaking Revelation

The Greenville County Coroner’s Office confirmed that Roger tragically succumbed to his injuries from multiple gunshot wounds around 5 a.m.. His body was found nearly thirteen hours later, at approximately 6:45 p.m., by a friend in a vacant apartment complex currently undergoing renovations.

A Call for Community Assistance

This raises hopes that someone might hold key information about the identity of the suspect(s) and the motive for such a heinous act. Since October 2019, the police have remained vigilant in seeking justice for Roger, but the case has not yet seen significant progress.

The Greenville Police Department is appealing to the community for help. The Importance of Speaking Up

Many in the community are wondering how they can help. Every small piece of information can be crucial in solving a case like this. It’s important for people to remember that even if they think their knowledge is insignificant, it could turn out to be the missing puzzle piece that finally leads to justice.

As the Greenville Police Department continues to pursue leads, the growing support from the community is vital. Together, they can honor Roger’s memory and work towards restoring a sense of safety and trust within the neighborhood.

Looking Ahead
