New $65 Million United Community Bank Headquarters Rises in Downtown Greenville’s Reedy River Area

Another standout building has risen along Greenville’s Reedy River. United Community Bank has officially unveiled its new $65 million corporate headquarters in downtown Greenville, located next to the Grand Bohemian Lodge. The six-story building, designed to foster collaboration and employee well-being, is set to become a prominent feature of the city’s skyline.

The new UCB Headquarters boasts open, modern, and light-filled spaces, creating an inviting atmosphere that influences occupants’ health, thinking, and performance. The bank has embraced the WELL process, focusing on innovation, resources, community, and management to create a unique working environment. Features such as higher air quality with advanced filtration systems and regular water evaluation ensure the well-being of employees.

In addition to prioritizing physical health, the headquarters offers opportunities for mindfulness, movement, and increased collaboration. The building materials are carefully selected to provide efficiency, thermal comfort, and environmental responsibility, aligning with the principles of the WELL process.

Greenville-based The Furman Co. spearheaded the real estate development project in partnership with Harper General Contractors, McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture, BPA Engineering, and RMF Engineering. The collaboration has resulted in a state-of-the-art facility that combines functionality with aesthetics.

The UCB headquarters spans approximately 118,000 square feet and houses over 300 employees. The seven-story building sits on a 4.2-acre site along the Reedy River, occupying a prominent position in downtown Greenville. Its strategic location is intended to contribute to the revitalization and growth of the area.

The headquarters boasts numerous amenities to support its employees’ well-being and productivity. Quiet zones, featuring seating areas, encourage collaboration and break times. The fourth floor features a spacious gathering space and coffee bar known as the “River Room,” as well as multiple mothers’ rooms and break rooms on each floor.

With 29 conference rooms, two terraces, and over 350 parking spaces, the UCB headquarters is designed to accommodate various needs and facilitate seamless operations. The multi-purpose room can host conferences, workshops, training sessions, and more, accommodating up to 50 people.

The UCB headquarters has successfully achieved WELL Bronze certification, which requires meeting a set of stringent requirements focused on the health and well-being of occupants. This certification further reinforces the bank’s commitment to creating a bright and healthy workplace that fosters employee engagement and community involvement.

The completion of United Community Bank’s new headquarters marks a significant milestone for the company and the city of Greenville. The cutting-edge facility, with its emphasis on employee well-being and collaboration, not only provides an enhanced work environment but also contributes to the overall development and growth of downtown Greenville.

As Greenville continues to evolve as a thriving business and cultural hub, the addition of United Community Bank’s headquarters serves as a testament to the city’s progress and appeal. With its striking design, focus on sustainability, and commitment to employee well-being, the headquarters is set to make a lasting impact on the community and contribute to the ongoing transformation of downtown Greenville.
