Taking advantage of its strategic location, Timberlab, a recognized timber systems provider of note, has officially unveiled its grandly renovated East Coast facility, magnificently situated in the busy industrial heart of Piedmont, Greenville County. On Thursday, an impressive gathering of industry leaders, community stakeholders, and potential employees joined Timberlab’s joyous grand opening event that celebrated the full capacity of their spruced up, sprawling, 75,000-square foot facility.
Timberlab’s rehabilitation efforts were conducted in close collaboration with Swinerton, a nationally reputed commercial general contractor with a wide network of offices across the country. The newly renovated East Coast facility will primarily produce glulam kits, a vital ingredient to expedite the construction process while significantly reducing on-site noise levels.
Commonly known as Glulam, Glued laminated timber, undergoes a unique process where the wood is painted, milled, and subsequently glued to create kits of varying sizes. These kits serve as the core structural components for the rapidly emerging mass timber buildings. Timberlab has emphatically highlighted Piedmont’s abundant labor pool and the substantial socioeconomic benefits it could reap from the upgraded facility.
With the facility now running at full tilt, Timberlab’s aspiration to popularize an environment-friendly construction modality takes a giant leap forward. “Now that we’re at full capacity, Timberlab is equipped to exponentially drive the adoption of this environment-forward building platform from coast-to-coast,” declared Christopher Evans, President of Timberlab.
Timberlab’s motto transcends the provision of sustainable building systems to the Eastern United States. The company is committed to accelerating the adoption of mass timber construction as a mainstream building method. Projecting a promising future, Timberlab reveals that the number of projects incorporating mass timber has been on a doubling spree every two years – a trend that is expected to persist for the next 15 years. Buoyed by their newly revamped facility, Timberlab expects the adoption rates in key areas along the Eastern seaboard to surpass their projections.
Displaying an impressive portfolio, Timberlab’s mass timber fabrications from the East Coast facility have been widely leveraged in several high-profile Swinerton construction projects, including The Joinery: Phase Two situated in Charlotte, NC, and Live Oak Bank Campus based in Wilmington, NC.
Understanding the importance of community engagement, Timberlab arranged a grand opening event on Thursday for the residents of Greenville County. The festivities, filled with facility tours, live demonstrations, in-depth discussions about the operations, the capacity of the facility, and the importance of adopting mass timber, offer the community a glimpse into the transformative future that Timberlab aims to construct.
Expressing his satisfaction, Christopher Evans said, “Greenville was selected due to its close proximity to high-growth East Coast markets including Atlanta, Charlotte and New York and the ability to expand supply chain capacity. This facility addresses a significant gap among the existing facilities east of the Mississippi River capable of fabricating engineered wood products.”
In an invitation to the community, Timberlab has openly declared its need for qualified engineers and project managers, offering a grand opportunity to join the new-age green construction revolution.
