Greenville: Rising country star Carly Pearce joins Tim McGraw in Greenville
If you’re a Tim McGraw fan and you’re planning to see the iconic country music performer at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena May 16, you might want to make a note for yourself to arrive early. Get there in time to see special guest McGraw has brought along for the “Standing Room Only” tour. That special guest is Carly Pearce, and her career as a country singer is shifting into overdrive just as she’s set to arrive in Greenville.
Carly Pearce’s Journey in the Country Music Scene
Back in 2017, Pearce’s “Every Little Thing,” written by the artist herself, found an audience on satellite radio. The song eventually helped secure Pearce a recording contract and she hasn’t looked back since. She has perfected her sound — a throwback to early ’90s country and Americana with modern production touches. Her hits include the surging duet with Lee Brice, “I Hope You’re Happy Now,” as well as “What He Didn’t Do” and “Never Wanted to be That Girl.”
In fact, by the time 2023 rolled around, Pearce had scored three No. 1 hits on the Billboard country charts. All this success has set the stage for Pearce’s new album, “Hummingbird,” scheduled for release this summer.
A Glimpse of “Hummingbird”
Earlier this year, Pearce spoke with American Songwriter magazine about the new album, saying that it focuses on her belief “that there is light on the other side of darkness.” In an Instagram post announcing the release of the album, Pearce wrote, “I hope it shows you that pain can be a lesson that shows you just how strong you are and what you truly deserve. That we can all find the ‘hummingbird’ in the midst of whatever we’re going through.”
The Collaboration with Tim McGraw
As for headliner Tim McGraw, he seems pretty impressed with Pearce, especially after she recorded an acoustic version of one of McGraw’s biggest hits, “It’s Your Love.” “I can’t wait to get out on the road with Carly,” McGraw told iHeartRadio. “She’s a great singer, great songwriter, great entertainer and just a great artist. And better than that, she’s an all-around, really, really, really good person. I can’t wait for us to get on the road and go kick some butt.”
As one might imagine from a young country artist who grew up on McGraw’s music, the feeling is more than mutual. Pearce says she is “learning what it means to be a country music star from the best.” “He is the sweetest, kindest, most humble, genuine person,” she said.
