Greenville, SC – A unique charity event called Sync for Survivors is drawing attention in the Upstate for its innovative approach to fundraising. The inaugural lip sync battle event, scheduled for August 17 at the renowned Greenville Theatre, will see 20 prominent local names split into teams to compete onstage with songs they dance and lip sync to. The organization behind the event, Cancer Survivors Park Alliance (CSPA), has already opened online ticket sales and voting.
Event Layout and Participation
The entire event spells fun with a heavy dose of competition. Doors for the anticipated occasion open at 6:30 PM and start with the first performance at 7 PM. The event that started its rehearsals on July 22, has been working with Shock Dance Center in Mauldin to choreograph the performances.
The 20 performers chosen are a mix-bag of local business owners, professionals and officials, each bringing their uniqueness to the event. Each vote for the event, cast before and during the event, is $10, the winner of which walks away with an impressive award.
Ticket sales for the charity event are $125 per person, which includes general admission, food from Larkin’s Catering, two alcoholic drinks, and unlimited soft beverages. The voting and ticketing details can be accessed on the event’s website.
The Inspiration behind Sync for Survivors
The CSPA was on the lookout for a signature fundraising event when the idea of Sync for Survivors took shape. In the words of Kay Roper, the Executive Director of CSPA, “The event will be ‘snappy, fun, and related to celebrating all survivors and everyone touched by cancer’”.
Founded in 2018, CSPA strives to engage, empower, educate, and enhance the lives of cancer-affected families and individuals. All the proceeds generated from the event will go towards funding alliance events and programs run by CSPA.
A Competitive Event with a Heart for Cause
The event promises to showcase not only the local talent but their commitment to supporting cancer survivors. Janell Strickland, Talent and Training Manager at Find Great People, who is also one of the performers, is eager to hit the stage. He stated, “Expect the performers to be silly, innovative, and competitive”.
