The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that a suspect was located Friday night after escaping custody earlier today. Deputies said they responded to Gallon Street on Friday afternoon after someone reported a group gathering at a vacant residence.
According to deputies, when they arrived at the scene, they discovered that one of the people, 42-year-old Martina Anderson, was wanted for an active bench warrant. Deputies stated that after they took Anderson into custody, they began dealing with another person who became combative, and she was able to flee.
Marsharon Thomas, a witness to the arrest, said she was terrified when she first saw several GCSO deputies in the neighborhood. “Handcuffs and running the whole time. Like, what were you gonna do? You can’t do nothing in handcuffs you might as well have just turned yourself in. Because you can’t do nothing they were gonna find you,” she said.
After searching for about an hour, deputies said Anderson was found and taken back into custody on Wrigley Street.
