Hey there, Greenville! The weather outside is looking pretty nice as we head into mid-December. With mainly sunny skies and a high of 52°F, it’s a perfect time to enjoy the beautiful outdoors—maybe take a stroll in the park or sip a warm beverage outside. Tonight, it’s going to get a bit chilly with a low of 31°F, so don’t forget to grab that cozy blanket!

Exciting News from the YMCA!

Now, speaking of exciting, there’s some fantastic news brewing in our community! The YMCA of Greenville has just welcomed a new face to their team. Meet Noel Brooks, the recently appointed director of annual giving. With more than fifteen years of experience under her belt in the world of nonprofit management and philanthropy, she’s ready to dive in and make a positive impact!

Noel’s main mission in her new role is to create and manage a comprehensive annual fund strategy. That means she’ll be organizing fundraising campaigns that not only aim to meet goals but also help spread the YMCA’s message: building healthy spirit, mind, and body for all. Quite the noble mission, right?

A Heart for Community

Before stepping into this role at the YMCA, Brooks served as the director of development at Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County. During her time there, she was all about building connections and encouraging support for affordable housing initiatives. It’s clear that her heart beats for community service and creating opportunities for others.

Her experience doesn’t stop there! She spent eight years as a development director at a community Christian school in Stockbridge, Georgia, where she honed her skills in engagement and fundraising. Talk about a solid track record!

Educational Background and Leadership

Now, let’s get a bit personal. Noel graduated from Clearwater Christian College with a B.S. in Business Administration. She’s also a proud Riley Fellow, having gone through the Diversity Leaders Initiative at Furman University. This program has helped shape her approach to creating inclusive spaces in both her work and volunteer roles. It’s clear she values bringing people together at every level.

Words from Noel

Brooks shared her enthusiasm about her new position, emphasizing her longstanding passion for community involvement. “Growing up with a deep sense of community, I have always been drawn to roles where I can facilitate change and foster connections,” she said, with a sparkle of enthusiasm in her eyes. “The Y is an institution that builds community among people of all ages and backgrounds, and I am excited for the opportunity to make a difference by furthering its mission.”

What’s Next for the YMCA?

So, what does Noel’s hiring mean for the YMCA and the Greenville community? Well, it represents a commitment to enhancing community connections and ensuring resources are available for everyone looking to improve their overall well-being. With Noel at the helm of annual giving, we can expect a surge in support for various programs that benefit residents—from youth development to healthy living initiatives.

Hold onto your hats, folks, because with the sunny skies of Greenville and the bright new leadership of Noel Brooks, there are definitely exciting times ahead for our beloved community. Let’s rally behind the YMCA as they work to make a change that encourages us all to lead our best lives!
