Greenville will soon be hosting a gala to celebrate the award-winning documentary “Great Wall,” which tells the story of Khailing Neoh, the owner of Sum Bar, Greenville’s first dim sum restaurant. The documentary, produced by Rioin Oshiro of Undercurrent Film Community, recently received the prestigious James Beard Media Award.
The Great Wall Gala, organized by Mill Village Ministries in partnership with Undercurrent Film Community and Sum Bar, will take place at the Greenville ONE Center on August 22 at 6 p.m. The evening will feature welcome champagne, hors d’oeuvres, a photo booth, a silent auction, and a screening of the award-winning documentary “Great Wall.”
The gala aims to celebrate not only the culinary success of Sum Bar and Neoh but also the broader success of the Upstate food scene. By highlighting the achievements of local restaurants and filmmakers, the event celebrates the creativity and talent present in the Greenville community.
All proceeds from the gala will benefit Mill Village Ministries, an organization that supports up-and-coming Greenville restaurants. By attending the event or participating in the silent auction, guests will be directly contributing to the growth and success of local dining establishments.
For those interested in attending the gala, tickets can be purchased online at fundraise.givesmart.com/e/ecBKXQ. This is a unique opportunity to support a good cause while enjoying an evening of food, drinks, and entertainment.
