Storm Causes Severe Damage in Anderson County

Anderson County residents experienced a tumultuous evening on Sunday as a strong thunderstorm wreaked havoc in the area, causing significant damage and leaving hundreds without power.

West Pelzer firefighters were called to Courtney Street to respond to a large tree that had fallen during the storm. The tree not only blocked the roadway but also damaged utility lines, exacerbating the situation. Upon receiving the call, more than two hundred Duke Energy customers found themselves without power, prompting a swift response from emergency services. In addition to the West Pelzer Fire Department, a Quick Response Vehicle (QRV) was dispatched to the scene. The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT), Pelzer public works team, and Duke Energy personnel also arrived to assess the situation and work on restoring power to the affected residents.
