Exciting changes are afoot in Greenville! After successfully launching his first Spinx service station and convenience store over fifteen years ago, Stewart Spinks has made a splash yet again by unveiling the Spinx Market & Eatery right in the heart of downtown’s West End. This fresh concept officially opened its doors on a lively Wednesday at 659 S. Main St. – the stylish spot that was previously home to Cook’s Station.
The Spinx Market & Eatery isn’t just your run-of-the-mill convenience store. No, this place is a shining example of what a community-focused convenience store can be. It proudly showcases products from 15 local companies, elevating the dining experience for all who walk through its doors. Mayor Knox White could hardly contain his excitement about this new venture, stating, “Stewart and his family have really committed to a level of quality here that has really raised the bar.” It’s clear that this is not simply a “grab-n-go” concept; it’s something much more special.
Guests can still expect all their favorite quick-service items available at other Spinx locations, including delectable pre-made sandwiches, refreshing fountain drinks, and, of course, Spinx’s signature fried chicken. But wait, there’s more! This new market takes it up a notch by offering wine and beer that can be enjoyed right on the premises! Imagine sitting down with a cold one after a long day, surrounded by the hustle and bustle of downtown Greenville.
For the coffee lovers, the market has exclusive ties with Methodical Coffee, so you know you’re getting a top-notch brew. And if that weren’t enough to tickle your taste buds, local gem Double Stamp Brewery has crafted two special brews just for the Spinx Market & Eatery!
When you step inside the market, you’ll notice a beautifully curated décor that reflects the rich history of the Spinx brand, complete with nostalgic images of Stewart Spinks and the company’s very first convenience store from 1972. It’s as if you’re taking a little trip down memory lane while enjoying modern conveniences!
The Spinx family isn’t stopping here either! They’ve expressed their plans to replicate this innovative Market & Eatery model in future locations throughout the region. However, they are adamant that Greenville will always hold a special place as the first!
At the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Stewart Spinks couldn’t help but express his pride for the city, exclaiming, “Aren’t you proud of this city?” He remarked on the importance of Greenville in both his personal and professional journey, emphasizing the communal mindset that drives everyone towards success. “We’ve grown together,” he said warmly. “There’s a feeling in Greenville of collegiality. If you’re successful, I’m going to be more successful.”
The doors to Spinx Market & Eatery are open for business seven days a week, running from 5 a.m. to 2 a.m. It’s pretty convenient, don’t you think? Spinx has come a long way since its humble beginnings, now boasting more than 80 convenience stores across South Carolina, providing jobs for over 1,400 individuals.
In addition to their progressive business moves, the Spinks family is overwhelmingly invested in the community. Through the Spinks Family Foundation, they’ve donated over $4 million to local charities since 2000! Their commitment was further recognized when the City of Greenville proclaimed Dec. 1, 2022, as “Stewart Spinks Day” to honor the company’s impactful 50th anniversary.
Whether you’re a local or just passing through, the Spinx Market & Eatery promises a delightful dining experience that embraces everything great about Greenville. So why not stop by, grab a bite to eat, and savor the tastes and atmosphere of this special spot? 🎉
