Spartanburg Stands Together: Hurricane Helene Relief Efforts Underway

Spartanburg is buzzing with a spirit of community and compassion as local organizations rally together to lend a hand to those affected by Hurricane Helene. The Hub City Spartanburgers, our beloved minor league baseball team, are stepping up to make a significant impact. They are selling Hurricane Helene Relief Tees for just $20, with all the proceeds going to aid the recovery efforts in South Carolina and western North Carolina. How amazing is that?

Making a Difference, One T-Shirt at a Time

The back of the shirts boldly states “Carolina Strong.” So far, the Spartanburgers have received over 600 pre-orders, racking up a whopping total of more than $7,500 in donations! That’s a fantastic effort! Paige Stephenson, President and CEO of United Way of the Piedmont, has expressed her gratitude for the Spartanburgers’ partnership in helping the community recover from the devastation of the storm. “From immediate response to long-term recovery, we’re here to help our community rebuild in the aftermath of Helene,” she stated.

Join the Cause

Pre-orders for the Hurricane Helene Relief Tee are still open! Tyson Jeffers, GM of the Hub City Spartanburgers, wants to extend a heartfelt thanks to all the fans in South Carolina, North Carolina, and beyond who have supported these endeavors. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of the people, organizations, and communities that have been impacted by Hurricane Helene, and we hope that the donations being made can directly assist those in need,” he said. It’s a fantastic way to show support while wearing something that means so much!

Community Collaboration in Greenville

Over in Greenville, another exciting initiative is also in motion. The Greenville Police Department is teaming up with the Bon Secours Wellness Arena to collect donations for the Greenville Humane Society and Greenville County Animal Care. They’ve received 18 pets from the Asheville Humane Society, all of whom have been adopted, but more might be on the horizon. You can drop off much-needed supplies like pet food and paper towels at the BSWA box office until 2 p.m. today. What a pawsitive way to help our furry friends!

Support Through Shopping

The Greenville Drive is also joining the effort. They’re selling relief T-shirts to support the Asheville Tourists Baseball Club’s efforts to provide relief to their communities hit hard by Hurricane Helene. Each $25 shirt goes directly to WNC relief efforts, showcasing that when it comes to community support, every little bit counts! These shirts were designed by Fooser Sports Design and produced by OT Sports, ensuring you can look good while doing good!

Music for a Cause

And let’s not forget about the Sonic Sunshine benefit concert happening this Friday at 8 p.m. This live-streamed event features performances from big names like Darius Rucker, Edwin McCain, and Barenaked Ladies, all coming together to support those in need from the hurricane’s aftermath. McCain has urged people to join in this show of unity and support, emphasizing that 100% of the donations will go directly to charity. Many valuable organizations such as World Central Kitchen and Feeding the Carolinas will benefit from the funds raised.

Your Chance to Help

It’s clear that Spartanburg and surrounding areas are pulling together to lend a helping hand to those affected by Hurricane Helene. Whether you’re buying a T-shirt, donating supplies, or tuning in to enjoy a concert, every small action can lead to impactful change. If you know of any other charitable events focused on hurricane relief or want to share your story, don’t hesitate to reach out!
