Spartanburg Community Rallies Together for Hurricane Helene Relief Efforts

Spartanburg Team Lends a Hand in Hurricane Helene Relief Efforts

In the heart of Spartanburg, good-hearted folks are stepping up to support communities affected by Hurricane Helene. The Hub City Spartanburgers, our local minor league baseball team, is leading the charge by selling specially designed Hurricane Helene Relief Tees for just $20. All the proceeds will go directly to great organizations that are doing on-the-ground recovery work, like the United Way of the Piedmont, the Red Cross, and Samaritan’s Purse. Talk about a home run for our community!

Shirts That Make a Difference

These tees sport the uplifting message, “Carolina Strong”, on the back, reminding us all of the resilience that our communities exhibit, especially in tough times like these. So far, over 600 of these shirts have already been pre-ordered, raking in more than $7,500 for those in need. That’s a fantastic start, but there’s still time to grab one for yourself! The team has kept pre-orders open, so don’t miss your chance.

Tyson Jeffers, the General Manager of the Hub City Spartanburgers, expressed heartfelt thoughts during the campaign, saying, “Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of the people, organizations, and communities that have been impacted by Hurricane Helene. We hope that the donations being made can directly assist those in need.” Clearly, the team understands the importance of supporting our neighbors during these challenging times.

Other Local Initiatives

But Spartanburg isn’t the only area stepping up. In Greenville, a community effort is in full swing as the Greenville Police Department partners with the Bon Secours Wellness Arena to collect donations for the Greenville Humane Society and Greenville County Animal Care. After receiving 18 pets from the Asheville Humane Society, all of which were adopted, they are now gathering essential items to support even more furry friends who may need homes. If you’re in the area, swing by the BSWA box office until 2 p.m. today to contribute pet food, paper towels, and other critical supplies.

The Greenville Drive, our passionate local baseball team as well, is also getting in on the action. They’ve launched their own relief T-shirts that retail for $25, with proceeds supporting the Asheville Tourists Baseball Club and their ongoing relief efforts. Designed by Fooser Sports Design and produced by OT Sports, it’s a wonderful way to wear your support for those affected by the hurricane.

Sonic Sunshine Benefit Concert

Adding to the fundraising efforts, a live-stream benefit concert called Sonic Sunshine is set to rock our screens at 8 p.m. on Friday. Exciting performances by talented artists like Edwin McCain, Darius Rucker, and Toad the Wet Sprocket are expected to draw in viewers and raise much-needed funds. According to McCain, “Please join us for a show of unity and support to raise critical funds for hurricane relief. 100% of all donations will go directly to charity.” It’s a great way to give while enjoying great music from the comfort of your home!

The charities benefiting from this concert include World Central Kitchen, Direct Relief, Feeding the Carolinas, and Brother Wolf Animal Rescue, all vital in aiding recovery efforts post-Hurricane Helene.

If you know of any other charitable events contributing to Hurricane Helene relief, please don’t hesitate to share your knowledge. Every little bit helps, and together, our communities can emerge stronger and more united.
