The wait is over for Upstate South Carolina travelers looking for direct flights to Nashville. Starting Tuesday, Southwest Airlines will offer direct flights from Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP) to Nashville, a highly requested route. This marks a significant milestone in GSP’s ongoing efforts to provide more options for travelers.
The new direct flights to Nashville come as a welcome resumption of service for Southwest Airlines. The airline had previously offered the route but discontinued it in 2014. Now, with the increasing demand for travel options from GSP, Southwest Airlines has recognized the potential and decided to reinstate the Nashville route.
In addition to the Nashville route, Southwest Airlines plans to expand its services from GSP to other popular destinations. Travelers can soon look forward to direct flights to Atlanta, Denver, Baltimore, and Houston-Hobby. Flights to Denver will begin on June 8, but they will initially be offered only on weekends.
GSP officials are excited about the expanded services, recognizing the positive impact it will have on the region. Dave Edwards, GSP’s President and CEO, stated, “We are thrilled to welcome back service to Nashville, one of our most requested routes, and to offer Upstate SC passengers even more options for their travel needs. The addition of this new route will not only provide greater connectivity to the West but will also contribute to the economic growth and tourism in our region.”
GSP continues to enhance its reputation as a convenient and traveler-friendly airport with its growing list of non-stop flight options. In May, the airport welcomed Breeze Airways, which offers low-cost, direct flights to destinations including Orlando and Los Angeles. With Southwest Airlines and Breeze Airways expanding their services, travelers now have even more choices when flying out of GSP.
GSP’s commitment to providing top-notch service and expanding flight options shows its dedication to meeting the needs of Upstate South Carolina travelers. As air travel continues to rebound, GSP is poised to become an even more popular departure point for both business and leisure travelers. With the addition of direct flights to Nashville and other major cities, GSP solidifies its position as a regional hub offering convenience, affordability, and a seamless travel experience.
