Simpsonville Arts Center to Host Exhibitions Featuring Shadowboxes, Paintings

The Simpsonville Arts Center in Simpsonville is gearing up to showcase two exciting new exhibitions that will delight art enthusiasts in the city. Titled “Out of the Box” and “Florals, Abstracts, Landscapes – Oh My!”, these exhibitions will offer a diverse array of artistic expressions for visitors to enjoy.

Exhibits Details

The exhibitions will open at the Simpsonville Arts Center on May 20 and will run through June 27. The center, located at 110 Academy St., will serve as the backdrop for these captivating displays of creativity.

“Out of the Box” by Leslie Lakes

Sponsored by the Metropolitan Arts Council, “Out of the Box” will showcase a collection of shadowbox and assemblage pieces created by Greenville artist Leslie Lakes. Visitors to the exhibit will have the unique opportunity to interact with some of the artworks by moving them on a lazy Susan or witnessing one swing on a tree swing. This interactive element adds an exciting dimension to the viewing experience.

“Florals, Abstracts, Landscapes – Oh My!” by MeKenzie Love

MeKenzie Love, an artist based in Mauldin, will present around 20 acrylic paintings in the exhibition “Florals, Abstracts, Landscapes – Oh My!”. Her vibrant and diverse pieces will offer a visual feast for art lovers, showcasing the beauty of florals, the intrigue of abstracts, and the serenity of landscapes.

Reception and Opening

To celebrate the launch of both exhibitions, the Simpsonville Arts Center will host a reception on May 21 from 6 to 8 p.m. This event promises to be a lively gathering of art enthusiasts, artists, and community members coming together to appreciate and support local creativity.

Both “Out of the Box” and “Florals, Abstracts, Landscapes – Oh My!” will be open to the public from 1 to 4 p.m. on Wednesdays or by appointment.
