‘Silent Surfaces’ exhibit to open at Greenville Center for Creative Arts

In an exciting display of artistic talent, the ‘Silent Surfaces: Mapping Spatial and Personal Discoveries’ exhibition is set to open on June 7 at the Greenville Center for Creative Arts in Greenville, South Carolina. The exhibit, which will run through July 24, will showcase the works of three distinguished artists, each offering a unique perspective on space, silence, and introspection.

Featuring Renowned Artists

The exhibition will highlight approximately 30 works by three accomplished visual artists: painter Donnie Copeland from Arkansas, stop-motion video creator Ryan Lewis from Michigan, and mixed-media artist Matthew McLaughlin from Maryland.

Donnie Copeland’s ‘Interrupted Paths’

Donnie Copeland will present painted collages from his series ‘Interrupted Paths’, offering viewers a glimpse into his exploration of disrupted journeys and narratives.

Ryan Lewis’s ‘Everted Sanctuaries’

Ryan Lewis will showcase stop-motion films from his ‘Everted Sanctuaries’ series, using found objects to delve into the nuances of introversion and the journey from silence to expression.

Matthew McLaughlin’s ‘Proxemic Boundaries’ and ‘Reflective Cartography’

Matthew McLaughlin will utilize mixed-media art in his ‘Proxemic Boundaries’ and ‘Reflective Cartography’ series to examine personal and societal spatial environments, inviting viewers to contemplate the spaces we create and the inner worlds we often overlook.

Opening Reception at GCCA

The Greenville Center for Creative Arts will host an opening reception on June 7 from 6-9 p.m. to celebrate the debut of the ‘Silent Surfaces’ exhibit, providing an opportunity for art enthusiasts and the community to engage with the thought-provoking works on display.
