Greenville-based School Food Rocks to Open Headquarters in Downtown Greenville

School Food Rocks, a local food-service consultant company, is set to open its headquarters in downtown Greenville’s Daniel Building, also known as the Landmark Building. Founded by Joe Urban, who previously served as the Greenville County Schools food and nutrition services director, the company has signed a lease for 2,000 square feet of space at 301 N. Main St.

State-of-the-Art Facilities

The new headquarters will be located on the building’s ground floor facing College Street. It will feature a state-of-the-art commercial kitchen, a dining area, a 25-seat conference center, and a podcast studio. Renovations of the Daniel Building, including updating the outdoor plaza, are estimated to cost $4 million. The project is being designed by SeamonWhiteside and DP3 Architects.

Epicenter for K-12 Training

Joe Urban expressed excitement about the new headquarters, stating that it will serve as the epicenter for K-12 training in the county. The facility will offer hands-on culinary and operations training to school districts across the area. Additionally, the School Food Rocks podcast will be recorded at the site, with training episodes filmed on location.

Opening Date and Expectations

The renovation of the Daniel Building is expected to take approximately two months, and Joe Urban is aiming to open the headquarters on May 1. The new space will provide a hub for educational and training opportunities for the local school food-service industry, as well as a modern and functional workspace for the School Food Rocks team.
