SC Launch awards $300K investment to Piedmont-based Viatec

February 23, 2024

The South Carolina Research Authority’s investment affiliate, SC Launch, has announced a $300,000 investment in Viatec, a Piedmont-based company that specializes in “plug-and-play” electronic power take-off systems. Viatec’s electrification solutions, such as SmartPTO, SmartPX, and SmartAPU, aim to reduce fuel and maintenance costs, lower emissions, and create a cleaner and quieter worksite.

Viatec also offers systems to eliminate constant diesel idling in large vehicles, including EMS trucks, and to maintain power and temperature in tractor-trailer driver cabins. The company has been recognized for its innovative and sustainable products and services.

SCRA President and CEO Bob Quinn has praised Viatec, stating, “Their superior customer service rounds out a company positioned for continued growth in the auxiliary power industry.” Viatec has been a member of SCRA since 2017 and joined SC Launch’s portfolio in 2018. The company has previously received grants and investments from SC Launch, including a $25,000 project development fund grant and a $46,000 demonstration grant.

With this latest $300,000 investment, Viatec’s position as a leader in the industry is further solidified. The company will be able to expand its operations, develop new products and services, and continue providing innovative solutions for its customers. SC Launch’s investment serves as a testament to the potential and value of Viatec’s offerings in the market.

Viatec’s plug-and-play electronic power take-off systems have already gained recognition for their ability to improve efficiency and reduce environmental impact. By replacing traditional power take-off methods, which are often powered by idling engines, with electric systems, Viatec’s solutions enable companies to achieve significant cost savings while also contributing to a cleaner and healthier environment.

The investment from SC Launch not only provides the necessary capital for Viatec’s expansion but also validates the company’s dedication to sustainability and innovation. By investing in Viatec, SC Launch is not only supporting a local business but also helping to drive advancements in the auxiliary power industry.

Viatec’s success and growth are a testament to the vibrant and thriving business environment in Piedmont and the surrounding areas. As more companies seek to reduce their carbon footprint and adopt sustainable practices, the demand for innovative solutions like Viatec’s plug-and-play power take-off systems will only continue to grow.

With this latest investment, Viatec is well-positioned to meet the increasing demand and scale its operations to serve a larger customer base. The company’s commitment to customer service and its dedication to developing sustainable products and services have positioned it as a leader in the industry.

As Viatec continues to innovate and expand, its impact on the community and the environment will only continue to grow. By offering solutions that reduce emissions, lower fuel consumption, and contribute to a cleaner and quieter worksite, Viatec is playing a crucial role in building a more sustainable future for industries reliant on auxiliary power systems.

The investment from SC Launch is an exciting milestone for Viatec and a testament to the company’s potential and growth. With the additional funding and support, Viatec is poised to make an even greater impact in the industry and further establish itself as a leader in sustainable electrification solutions.
