Riverside and Greenville Teams Compete for Titles

Riverside’s girls lacrosse and Greenville’s boys lacrosse teams are set to compete for the South Carolina high school state championships in the Class AAAA division this Saturday at Irmo High School in Columbia. Both teams have a strong history in the sport, with Riverside having won the Class AAAAA state title in 2021 and Greenville clinching the all-classifications state title back in 2010.

The Warriors from Riverside, boasting a 17-2 record, are making their third finals appearance in four years. On the other hand, the Red Raiders of Greenville (14-3) will be looking to add another championship to their collection as they face off against tough opponents.

Championship Schedule

The championship schedule for the SC high school lacrosse state championships is as follows:

  • 11 a.m. – Class AAAAA Girls: Fort Mill (13-5) vs. Chapin (17-2)
  • 1 p.m. (approximately) – Class AAAAA Boys: Nation Ford (13-6) vs. Wando (16-3)
  • 3:30 p.m. – Class AAAA Girls: Riverside (17-2) vs. Bishop England (18-0)
  • 5:30 p.m. (approximately) – Class AAAA Boys: Greenville (14-3) vs. Lucy Beckham (14-5)

How to Watch

For those unable to attend the championships in person, the games will be available for live streaming on the NFHS Network for subscribers. Additionally, tickets can be purchased at GoFan for $15 (children 5 and under free) for those wishing to watch the games in person at the stadium.

Players to Watch

Riverside Girls Lacrosse

Bella Bright, Jr., midfielder: Bright has been a standout player for Riverside, ranking fifth in the state with 90 goals and fourth in points. She has scored a total of 189 goals in her career and is committed to Florida Southern. Keep an eye on her performance in the finals.

Marianna Lopez, Sr., goalkeeper: Lopez has been a key player for Riverside, with a notable save percentage improvement this season. Her experience and skill will be crucial for the team in their championship game.

Greenville Boys Lacrosse

Doug Landrum, Sr., defense: Landrum’s versatility on the field as a long-stick midfielder has been a valuable asset for Greenville. Watch out for his defensive plays and ability to trigger fast breaks for the team.

Will Wright, Jr., attack: Wright leads the team with 61 points and has been instrumental in the offense. With the pressure on due to an injury to another key player, Wright will be a player to watch in the championship match.
