GREENVILLE, S.C. – In a move that marks the next chapter of his soccer career, former James Madison University standout Rodrigo Robles has officially signed a deal with Greenville Triumph SC of USL League One. The announcement came from the club on Tuesday afternoon, solidifying Robles’ transition to the professional ranks.
Robles, who served as an offensive powerhouse for JMU during the 2023 season, showcased his skills and leadership on the field. In 19 matches with 18 starts, he emerged as a key player for the Dukes, leading the team in goals (nine) and points (24), while also tying for the lead in assists with six. His contributions were instrumental in helping JMU advance to the NCAA Round of 16 and finish the season ranked 18th nationally.
During a pivotal stretch bridging the end of the regular season and the start of the postseason, Robles demonstrated his scoring prowess by notching points in six consecutive matches, finding the back of the net in five of those contests. One of the standout moments of his collegiate career came in a memorable match against Pitt in the NCAA Championship, where he recorded a brace – the first NCAA brace by a Duke since 2018.
Throughout his four-year tenure with the Dukes, Robles proved to be a reliable and dynamic player, appearing in a total of 61 matches with 60 starts. Over the course of his collegiate career, which also included a freshman season at West Virginia, the Burgos, Spain native tallied a total of 20 goals and 20 assists, accumulating 60 points in total. His versatility and knack for delivering in clutch moments made him a standout performer on the field.
