The Travelers Rest Police Department is currently investigating a disturbing incident that took place on Friday night, involving shots being fired during a confrontation with a reckless driver.
According to authorities, officers were dispatched to Misty Gate Drive at approximately 8 p.m. in response to reports of a disturbance. Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered the suspect’s vehicle attempting to leave West Road. A traffic stop was initiated in the back lot of Tandem Creperie and Coffeehouse, located at 2 S. Main Street.
After making contact with the driver, the individual fled on foot, leading officers on a pursuit. The chase ended a few blocks away on State Park Road near Ace Hardware, where the driver was apprehended in a wooded area. The suspect reportedly resisted arrest, but officers were able to successfully take him into custody.
Following the arrest, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were called to evaluate the driver. Subsequently, the individual was transported to the Greenville County Detention Center due to his resistance during the arrest. The identity of the suspect has not been disclosed by law enforcement at this time.
Authorities have confirmed that there are no reported victims of gunshot wounds in connection to the incident. Additionally, the Travelers Rest police officers did not discharge their firearms during the confrontation.
