Greenville’s Radio Room reopens bigger, better after long wait

The music scene in Greenville, South Carolina, is abuzz with excitement as the highly anticipated reopening of Radio Room finally comes to fruition. The popular venue, known for hosting a diverse range of local and national acts, has relocated to a larger space on Liberty Drive after closing its previous location on Poinsett Highway in April.

Co-owners Geoff Cannada, David Raghib, and Wes Gilliam have been hard at work preparing for the grand reopening, which is set for Tuesday, July 30. The new and improved Radio Room promises a bigger and better experience for music lovers in the Upstate.

Amped Up Capacity and Upgraded Amenities

One of the most significant upgrades to the new Radio Room is its increased capacity, now accommodating up to 539 guests—more than double its previous location. Along with a larger space, the venue boasts a new 24×18 feet stage, complete with a drum riser and additional room for production elements.

Co-owner Wes Gilliam, who oversees booking for the venue, shared, “The new stage setup allows us to offer a more enhanced experience for both artists and concert-goers. We’re thrilled to have the capacity to host larger shows and welcome more music enthusiasts through our doors.”

Aside from the technical upgrades, guests can also look forward to brand-new, spacious bathrooms and improved sightlines throughout the venue. Co-owner Geoff Cannada expressed his excitement about the revamped space, noting, “The room is more open and inviting, with improved views from every angle. We’ve also paid close attention to enhancing the overall guest experience, including upgraded facilities.”

A Community Effort

Despite facing unexpected delays during the renovation process, the Radio Room received overwhelming support from its staff, local supporters, and music community. From assisting with equipment relocation to constructing an outdoor deck on the property, the outpouring of help has been instrumental in bringing the new venue to life.

Co-owner David Raghib reflected on the challenges faced during the transition, stating, “The delays were disheartening at times, but the support we received from our community kept us motivated. We’re incredibly grateful for everyone who pitched in to make this reopening possible.”

Exciting Lineup and Future Prospects

With a stellar lineup of upcoming shows, including performances from The New Pornographers, American Aquarium, Black Flag, and more, the Radio Room is poised to reclaim its position as a leading music destination in Greenville. Co-owner Wes Gilliam shared his anticipation for the venue’s future, saying, “While there may be some nerves leading up to the first show in the new space, I’m confident that the Radio Room will once again become a hub for live music enthusiasts.”

As the stage is set for the Radio Room’s grand reopening, fans can expect an unparalleled concert experience in a vibrant and artistically enriched setting. The new and improved Radio Room is ready to welcome music lovers and performers alike, setting the stage for a new chapter in Greenville’s music scene.
