Duke Energy mobilized over 11,000 workers for damage assessments and repairs. The focus remains on public health and safety facilities to ensure swift recovery. As Mother Nature continues to shake things up in Greenville, many residents are feeling the impact of recent storms. Thousands found themselves without power due to tree-related outages that struck over the weekend. But help is on the way!
On March 20, 2025, at around 4 p.m., approximately 1,655 neighbors in the areas around Wenwood Road, Mauldin Road, and Fairforest Way reported being left in the dark. All this chaos was triggered by complications from an object—likely a tree—snapping power lines, which unfortunately led to widespread outages. Can you imagine trying to go about your day without electricity?
Thankfully, good news began to roll in later that evening. Even though power restoration was initially projected to be complete by 8 p.m., it turned out that only 19 customers remained without power by 8:32 p.m. That’s right, over 2,000 residents had their power restored following this tree-related incident. Talk about a team effort!
Duke Energy is hard at work as they’re currently conducting damage assessments and pushing forward with restoration efforts after the infamous impact of Storm Helene that caused chaos in the Carolinas. The storm left behind rampant flooding, tricky road conditions, and a lot of wind damage that only added to the complexity of restoring power.
In a truly commendable move, over 11,000 storm workers have been mobilized to help restore power across affected areas. This dedicated group even includes some workers who traveled from out of state and even Canada to lend a helping hand. Our community truly appreciates their commitment!
