Greenville, S.C. is calling all community members! If you’ve been feeling the urge to give back and enjoy some time outdoors, here’s your chance to get involved. On **October 26**, the city’s parks and recreation officials are reaching out for help with a big clean-up effort in our beloved parks and neighborhood green spaces.
This initiative is in response to the recent storm, Helene, which left several parks in less-than-ideal condition. We all know how much we enjoy our city’s parks for weekend picnics, family outings, and leisurely strolls. It’s time to lend a hand and make sure they are back in tip-top shape!
The city is teaming up with the United Way of Greenville County to tackle the remaining debris that has accumulated in our local parks. If you can spare a few hours on that day, your help will make a significant difference. The parks will specifically benefit from volunteers taking part in debris clean-up, spreading mulch, and restoring the creeks.
So, where can you help out? On **October 26** from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., volunteers can choose to work at one of the following parks:
More details on the specific parks will be shared closer to the date, but what’s important for now is that your participation is encouraged!
When heading out to volunteer, it’s important to come prepared. Officials recommend dressing in layers, as the morning temperatures can vary. Sturdy shoes are a must; you want to be comfortable while tackling the tasks at hand. Don’t forget to bring a water bottle to keep hydrated while you work under the beautiful South Carolina sun.
If you’re interested in helping out, signing up is easy! You can access the volunteer sign-up form online. It will guide you through the process so you can secure your spot to help in the clean-up efforts. Just a few clicks, and you’ll be on your way to making a positive impact in our community!
Volunteering is a great way to meet new friends, deepen your connection to the community, and add a little bit of good to your day. It’s more than just yard work; it’s about coming together as a community to support our environment and create safe and clean spaces for everyone to enjoy.
Whether you’re a long-time resident or new to Greenville, this is an excellent opportunity to get outside and lend a hand. Plus, you can feel good knowing that your efforts will help restore the parks we all cherish.
Mark your calendars for **October 26**, gather your friends and family, and let’s show our parks some love! Together, we can make a big difference, one clean-up at a time. We look forward to seeing you there!
