Greenville is now home to a new southern-style restaurant infused with the touch of the hit AMC Network series “The Walking Dead”. The restaurant, named Nic & Norman’s, opened its doors to the public at the start of August and is located in the West End of Greenville’s downtown. The newly established restaurant took over the former site of Smoke on the Water, emphasizing continuity with its wood-based bar and several architectural remnants from the previous establishment incorporated into the new design.
This unique restaurant concept is a collaboration of Greg Nicotero, the director of “The Walking Dead”, and Norman Reedus, the star of the 11-season series who is best known for his role as Daryl Dixon, the popular zombie slaying character. This new venture in Greenville is the fifth addition to their franchise, which also shares its brand and presence in Tennessee, Georgia, and a pair of locations in Kentucky.
“We have a storytelling atmosphere that’s family-friendly,” explained Justin Sullivan, general manager of the Greenville dining space. “We use historic style buildings at all our locations and it fits our theme, complements our service and contributes to the consistency in quality across all locations.”
Aside from bringing a taste of the popular show to Greenville, Nic & Norman’s boast of an array of Southern-style dishes with their own twist. The glasses chandeliers and tourist T-shirts for sale, along with an upcoming outdoor patio and brunch menu soon to arrive in Greenville, all contribute to the thematic consistency and character of the dining space. Their menu ranges from appetizers, soups, salads to gourmet burgers served in the traditional way or in their unique special styles that include Frito chili Smashburger, a fish burger that surpasses the hamburger in size, and a Mexican variant with avocado, pico de gallo and grilled jalapenos.
The menu also features a homestyle meatloaf, fried chicken pot pie and brisket mac and cheese that deeply imbue the southern culinary ethos. The restaurant will also house a seasonal rotation of local and regional beers, along with handcrafted cocktails.
Nic & Norman’s in Greenville is open from Sunday to Thursday, starting from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m., and extends its closing hour until 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. The restaurant allows customers to make online reservations through its website, while also hinting on future provisions for pickup and delivery services.
