New dining experience arrives in Greenville’s West End: Nic & Norman’s Opens

The Taste of Sizzling Grill By ‘The Walking Dead’ Duo

In a vibrant development for Greenville’s West End, Nic & Norman’s, a distinguished restaurant concept developed by ‘The Walking Dead’ duo, Emmy-winning special effects makeup artist Greg Nicotero, and actor Norman Reedus have announced the official opening of their much-anticipated downtown branch on August 6.

This exciting culinary addition came to light in the early part of this year, following the relocation of Smoke on the Water from the iconic 1 Augusta St. location to Pelham Road. The building itself, a downtown hallmark bearing a vast ‘Welcome the the West End’ mural on the side facing South Main Street, paves the way for the newcomers.

Experience A Unique, Ambrose-Era Atmosphere

Earlier this month, Nic and Norman’s hosted a soft opening, offering eager patrons a glimpse into what awaits them at the new eatery. The establishment’s Senior Vice President of Operations, David Valentine, had described the ambiance as reminiscent of a ‘speakeasy’, fitted with plush back booths and decorative chandeliers.

Indeed, upon stepping inside, guests are greeted with a vibrant, prohibition-era aura – chandeliers suspended down the restaurant’s center, draped booths, and the walls proudly displaying on-set photographs of both Reedus and Nicotero.

A Love for Downtown Greenville

The decision to establish this branch in Greenville developed from an admiration for its Chattanooga counterpart, as disclosed by Gail Belliston, co-owner of hospitality group 3 Keys and Co., alongside Valentine. She stated, “Our second location is in Chattanooga, and we just love their downtown and the way the river runs through the city… Greenville is so similar,”

Relish In The Comfort of Traditional Fare

From staples like the Big Fish burger, which can be enjoyed grilled, fried, or blackened, to the mouth-watering Coca-Cola braised pork shank served alongside Cajun cream corn. The diverse menu oozes with comforting, home-style cuisine reminiscent of good, classic southern dining.

However, General Manager Justin Sullivan cautions that the initial few days will see dinner-only services, with a shift to both lunch and dinner from August 10 onward.

Adding a New Flavor to Greenville’s West End

As the grand opening approaches, the anticipation continues to rise. But one thing is certain, from its art deco interior to its savory menu offerings, Nic & Norman’s promises to bring a touch of old-school charm intertwined with contemporary dining to Greenville’s West End.
