Massachusetts Man Disappears on Family Vacation in South Carolina: Intense Search Underway

A Massachusetts Man Reported Missing in South Carolina

A concerning development has emerged as a Massachusetts man has been reported missing in South Carolina while on a family vacation in Hilton Head. The man, identified as Stanley Kotowski, aged 60, from Methuen, Massachusetts, has been unaccounted for since August 16, with authorities and family members presently engaged in a desperate search for him.

Last Seen

Reports suggest that Kotowski was last spotted departing S. Sea Pines Drive at approximately 10:30 a.m. on the said date. His wife, Jackie, shared via a social media post that her husband “has been battling severe insomnia over the past few weeks, and his anxiety levels have noticeably increased.” Jackie also wrote about her husband’s recent paranoia, suspecting that he was under pursuit from various parties – a state of mind that has stirred worries about his current situation.

Additionally, Jackie revealed that her husband’s anxiousness also extended to his proximity with the ocean, specifically the threats of having extreme sun exposure, getting stung by jellyfish, or encountering sharks. At the time of his disappearance, Stanley was seen wearing a Coors Light T-shirt, dark gray shorts, and was barefoot.

The Search Intensifies

The family has requested residents around Hilton Head to contact authorities if they have witnessed any of Kotowski’s traces or movement. This further extends to asking business and homeowners to search through their camera footage for potential sightings of the missing man, and to examine any secluded regions like sheds or pools for signs of Stanley.

“If you see someone you suspect to be Stan, please immediately take a picture and contact the local authorities,” stressed the family. They advised to ensure that Stanley understands he is safe, and emphasized that his wife and children are ready to welcome him back.

Community Support & Further Actions

The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office is assisting the family in their efforts and continuously conducting searches by land and water to locate the missing man. Locals have reported to have last seen Kotowski on August 16 at The Salty Dog Cafe. Authorities have managed to get footage from the establishment that seems to show Stanley a few moments before 10 a.m on the same date. Even though he does not seem rushed, the video suggests that he is strolling leisurely.

Simultaneous Investigations

The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources and the U.S. Coast Guard have also been conscripted into aid in the search for Kotowski. Kotowski is described as a 6-footer, weighing about 200 lbs. He speaks with a strong Boston accent and may have facial hair growth. Anyone having information about his disappearance is encouraged to call the Beaufort County dispatch at 843-524-2777.
