FOX Carolina News reached out to Macy’s to find out if the Greenville location is among the stores closing. A representative for Macy’s confirms Macy’s Haywood Mall will stay open. In a statement, a spokesperson said, “Our new strategy is designed to return Macy’s, Inc. to profitable growth and enhance the customer experience. We intend to close approximately 150 Macy’s stores over the next three years. This allows us to focus our investments and resources on Macy’s go-forward locations, including full line, furniture and current off-mall locations and Bloomie’s, Bloomingdale’s The Outlet and Bluemercury stores. We look forward to continuing to serve our customers at Macy’s Haywood Mall.”

As part of the corporate changes, Macy’s also announced that it would open more of its small format locations. FOX Carolina News asked Macy’s if the company would confirm whether or not one of these new stores (Bloomingdale’s or Bluemercury) will be coming to the Upstate. The representative said, “In October, we announced plans to accelerate the expansion of our Macy’s small format stores, opening up to 30 additional locations through 2025. We continue to explore new locations and will share more details as we finalize our plans.”
