Chef Throwdown Arrives in Greenville on August 1st
Get ready, Greenville, for the ultimate culinary showdown – the Iron Caterer Throwdown comes to town on August 1. Presented by Social Latitude, this nerve-wracking and exhilarating event brings together four local chefs in a culinary battle for supremacy. The throwdown is set to take place at The 405 Venue in downtown Greenville.
The Challenge Ahead
The chefs will be put to the test, tasked with creating three different course meals, all of which must showcase three undisclosed ingredients. The challenge is further amplified as they are limited to a 20-minute window. These creations will then be evaluated on various factors such as presentation, creativity, taste, and entertainment value. By the end of the event, an overall champion will be crowned.
The Contenders
Participating in this exciting competition are four proficient chefs who have significantly influenced the culinary landscape of Greenville. Menacing the stoves are Mike Sibert, the Upstate Chef Ambassador for 2024 and the proud owner of Anonymous Burgers, Hendrix Chicken & Waffles, and White Wine & Butter. Addison Stone, the executive chef at City Club of Greenville, Cima Mathur, the owner and chef of Persis Biryani Indian Grill, and Jonathan Smiley, chef at Embassy Suites by Hilton Greenville Golf Resort & Conference Center.
The Panel of Judges
The judging panel is equally impressive and includes last year’s champion Greg Teal of Table 301. Alongside him, Chris Rosensteel of Society Sandwich Bar & Social Club, Dayna Lee-Marquez, the CEO of Larkin, Kristina Murphy, and the famous celebrity chef from Union 41 restaurant in Virginia, Chef T.

Restaurant Relocate
In related news, Mike Sibert’s White Wine and Butter is making its anticipated move into the Greer Golf Course. The restaurant is expected to open its doors this fall, serving long-time favorites with the addition of new items on the menu, complete with a full bar.

Over on the East side, Greenville sports bar Local Cue has ceased its alcohol sales. The reason cited for this dramatic move is the spike in the cost of liquor liability insurance premiums across the state. Businesses like Blind Horse Saloon and Topside Pool Club have also closed down due to this issue.
