Hey, Greenville! It looks like we have some updates regarding the internet situation after Hurricane Helene made quite the impression on our area. Just days ago, Spectrum was gearing up to restore internet service to all areas by Wednesday. However, they’ve had to adjust that timeline, and some customers in the Upstate counties will have to wait a little longer for their connection to be back online.
As you might recall, Hurricane Helene caused significant disruptions not just in Greenville, but throughout South Carolina. Spectrum reported that more than 300 miles of their network sustained damage, and a whopping 395,000 customers lost service during the storm. That’s a lot of folks off the grid and in need of their internet to reconnect with the world!
In a statement released recently, Spectrum mentioned that the repairs are taking longer than they initially expected. They’ve faced several challenges, including the severe damage inflicted by the hurricane, the difficulty of gaining access to the hardest-hit areas, and the need to return for repairs in spots where construction is already in progress. So, for those of you who are still waiting for your internet, it’s not just a simple flip of the switch!
Spectrum has been in direct communication with affected customers, offering updated estimated completion dates based on where they live. It’s reassuring to know that they’re keeping people informed during this frustrating time.
Currently, Spectrum has managed to restore service to approximately 90 percent of affected customers across South Carolina. They expect to have everything back up and running by Monday, October 21. So, if you’re still in the dark about your internet service, hang tight! The situation is improving day by day.
If your internet isn’t back by October 21, don’t hesitate to reach out to Spectrum directly. A spokesperson mentioned, “If a customer’s service is not restored by October 21st, we ask that they notify us so that we can address any remaining issues.” So don’t suffer in silence—get in touch with them!
It’s also vital for everyone to report any downed cable wires they might see. If you spot one in your neighborhood, you can easily let them know by visiting Spectrum.net. It’s the little things like this that can help expedite the restoration process for everyone involved.
In neighboring North Carolina, most counties are set to have their service back by October 19, with the exception of Buncombe, McDowell, and Polk counties, which will also be awaiting restoration by October 21. So if you know anyone across the border, make sure they’re in the loop!
As we navigate through the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, staying connected is more important than ever. Spectrum has made significant progress, and hopefully, the remaining customers will have their services restored soon. So keep your spirits up, Greenville! We’ll get through this together, and soon we’ll all be back online, scrolling through and reconnecting with our favorite online activities!
