Leila Samhat, a spokesperson for the Peace Center, expressed her excitement about the initiative. “We thought it’d be a great idea to host a canned food drive during a period when we know we have a high volume of traffic,” she said. This strategy not only helps gather donations but also raises awareness about the ongoing challenges faced by those hit hardest by the hurricane.

Drop-off is easy and convenient; just head to the Peace Concert Hall Lobby. “We know that our most vulnerable community members were impacted the most,” Samhat added. “With that, our local food banks and pantries are seeing higher traffic than they typically do. We wanted to do something to sustain those efforts.”

The collected donations will not go to waste. The Peace Center staff have teamed up with Harvest Hope Food Bank to ensure that all contributions are distributed effectively in the coming week.
