Week 1 of High School Football Season Opens in South Carolina

This week, the atmosphere was electric across the state of South Carolina as the 2024 high school football season kicked off. Teams played their first games, setting the stage for an exciting season ahead.

Gaffney vs. Mann Highlights the Weekend

One of the notable matchups featured Gaffney opening its season against J.L. Mann. Both teams are expected to be serious contenders for the Class AAAAA playoffs. In a thrilling encounter, Gaffney managed to edge Mann with a close score of 42 to 40.

Several other teams in the Upstate also took the field. Blue Ridge and Wade Hampton had a closely contested game that ended with Blue Ridge winning by a score of 21 to 14. Likewise, Woodmont and Seneca‘s match showcased powerful plays, with Seneca coming out on top at 31 to 21.

Among the other games played, Abbeville defeated Powdersville with a high-scoring affair, finishing 53 to 43. Fairfield Central dominated their opponent, Union County, winning by a score of 52 to 6, while Hillcrest also made a strong statement with a 55 to 20 victory over Clover.
