Greenville, South Carolina – The Hickory Crawdads faced a tough defeat against the Greenville Drive on Tuesday night, falling 8-2 in their series opener in South Carolina. Despite putting up a fight, the Crawdads couldn’t muster enough offense to secure the win.
Both of the Crawdads’ runs in the game came from solo home runs. Sebastian Walcott got the ball rolling with a solo shot in the second inning, his sixth home run of the season. The center field blast tied the score at 1-1, giving Hickory a brief moment of hope.
After the early back-and-forth, Greenville seized control of the game in the fifth inning, scoring four runs to break the tie. The Drive continued to add to their lead with a run in the seventh inning and two more in the eighth, ultimately securing the victory.
In the top of the eighth inning, Luis Mieses added another solo home run for the Crawdads, his second of the season. The right field shot wasn’t enough to spark a comeback, but it showed the team’s resilience in the face of a tough opponent.
With this loss, the Hickory Crawdads now hold a 1-3 record in the second half of the season and a 29-41 overall record. Despite the setback, the team remains determined as they continue their road series against the Greenville Drive for the rest of the week.
As the Crawdads regroup and prepare for the upcoming games, they will be focused on making adjustments and coming back stronger in the next matchups. Fans can expect the team to bring their A-game as they strive to turn the tide and secure more wins in the series.
