The community voiced its top priorities, which include affordable housing, traffic control, and greenspace. Already, investments are being made as the city gears up to purchase six acres of land for housing and construct a new road to improve traffic flow. Interestingly, the affordable housing incentives available for developers to build taller buildings in exchange for including affordable units have yet to be utilized. Frixen mentioned that there are upcoming projects that may take advantage of this incentive, which could create more affordable housing options as Greenville continues to grow.

Commissioners have suggested that city staff organize a workshop session in the near future to allow for more discussion about the development code as a whole. There’s a collective understanding that active participation will help shape the future of Greenville, ensuring it truly reflects the needs and desires of its residents.
