Tragic Series of Crashes Rock Greer, SC

In the quiet community of Greer, South Carolina, tragedy struck as a series of fatal crashes in a span of just a few days left the town in shock. Residents are mourning the loss of three individuals as investigations unfold into these separate incidents.

A Pedestrian Fatality Near Riverside High School

The first accident occurred early Friday morning around 3:44 a.m. when a vehicle traveling on Hammett Bridge Road struck a pedestrian near the intersection with East Suber Road. The victim has been identified as 35-year-old Sonia Coronado from Gainesville, Georgia. Despite immediate medical attention, Coronado succumbed to her injuries, leaving behind a grieving family and community. This tragic event has raised awareness about pedestrian safety in the area, especially near busy spots like schools.

Weekend Wreck Wrecks Lives

Just a day later, on Saturday night at about 10:15 p.m., another incident occurred on E. Wade Hampton Boulevard. A 2006 Yellow Honda S2000 lost control and collided with two parked vehicles at Greer Mitsubishi. The driver, alongside a passenger, was involved in this devastating single-vehicle crash. Unfortunately, the passenger, 39-year-old Max Charles Harris from Greenville, was pronounced dead soon after arriving at the hospital. This incident is still being investigated by the Greer Police Department’s Traffic Team, who are looking into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

As if the community hadn’t endured enough heartbreak, late Sunday night witnessed another fatal incident involving a pedestrian. Authorities received a 911 call just before midnight, specifically around 11:56 p.m., about a pedestrian who had been hit near the 300 Trade Street area by Randall Street. The victim, 40-year-old Kenneth Ashley Williams, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. The driver involved, Amy Marie Holcomb, has been charged with felony DUI resulting in death. Eyewitnesses described her as having glassy eyes and slurred speech, with a noticeable odor of alcohol.
