The Greater Greer Education Foundation has been making waves in our local community, serving 27 schools across Greenville and Spartanburg counties. Since its inception in 2009, the foundation has awarded more than $150,000 in grants and scholarships. That’s a number we can all be proud of! Just this year, the organization handed out 13 scholarships to deserving students from six different high schools.
Recently, these talented students were honored in a heartwarming ceremony at Greer City Hall. It was a day filled with pride, celebrating the hard work and dedication of our youth.
This year’s scholarship recipients represent a fantastic mix of schools, including Blue Ridge High, Byrnes High, Bonds Career Center, Greer Middle College Charter High, Riverside High, and Greer High. A couple of standout winners include Madeline Moreland, who will be pursuing Music Theater at Converse College, and Cameron Crow, who is off to study Nursing at Spartanburg Community College. Hats off to these future stars!
It’s worth noting that this year’s scholarships and grants have totaled an impressive $35,000 dedicated to opening up educational opportunities for our community. What a way to make a difference! This support wouldn’t be possible without the generous contributions from local sponsors like John I. Smith Charities, BMW, Greer Memorial Hospital, and Pelham Medical Center, among others.
