Exciting Changes Ahead for Greer City: New Housing and Park Upgrades Announced!

Exciting Developments on the Horizon for Greer City!

Hey Greer residents! Our city just had another bustling meeting on December 10th, and there’s a bunch of news to share. Whether you live in a cozy single-family home or a peppy townhome, there’s something happening for everyone!

New Homes Coming Your Way

First up, the **Greer City Council** has officially made some significant changes in zoning that will bring more housing options to our community. They voted unanimously to approve the second and final reading of an ordinance that rezoned a delightful 12.2-acre parcel at 2065 Country Club Road, right near the popular intersection with state Highway 14. Now that the zoning has shifted from **suburban neighborhood** to **traditional neighborhood**, it opens the doors for more homes to be built in our charming city.

So, what does that mean, exactly? Well, the plan is to add 49 townhomes along with four half-acre lots for single-family detached homes. This is going to create a cozy community feel while offering plenty of space for new residents!

Big Plans on Brockman McClimon Road

But wait, there’s even more! The council also voted 5-2 to move forward with the first reading of an ordinance to annex a 4.7-acre parcel at 770 Brockman McClimon Road into the city. This property is going to be classified as a **traditional neighborhood**, and there are big plans ahead for this area, too!

The idea is to combine this new parcel with four other adjacent properties, creating a whopping 25-acre project. When it’s all said and done, we could see about 166 new housing units popping up. This is truly a major step toward enhancing the housing landscape in Greer!

Stevens Field Getting an Upgrade!

And that’s not all! Exciting changes are also coming to our beloved **Stevens Field**. The council gave a green light to accept a bid of just over $1 million from **P&F Construction LLC** for site improvements at the park. The improvements include some essential stormwater enhancements, as well as the construction of two fenced-in basketball courts and a new parking lot.

What’s even cooler? This project will be funded through the American Rescue Plan Act, which means these exciting enhancements are coming at no cost to our city’s budget. It’s a win-win for all of us who love spending time outdoors!

Looking Ahead

The energy at the council meeting was electric as these developments highlight the city’s commitment to enhancing our community’s living experience. Whether you’re excited about more home options or can’t wait to shoot some hoops at Stevens Field, it’s clear that Greer is on the move!
