Greer Approves Fiber Internet Expansion: City Council Notes

Franchise Agreement with Lumos Fiber of South Carolina
The city council of Greer, South Carolina has given final approval to a franchise agreement with Lumos Fiber of South Carolina LLC. Updates to the City’s Unified Development Ordinance
The council also gave initial approval to amend the city’s unified development ordinance. If approved, the updates will include:
- Adding a definition for commercial vehicles
- Updating where vehicle sales and rentals are allowed and restricting them to more auto-oriented zoning districts
- Updating allowances for electronic message signs
- Removing landscaping requirements for monument signs
- Adding spacing requirements for plantings
