Greenville Theatre Announces Performance of ‘How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying’

The Greenville Theatre sets the stage aflame with their rendition of “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying”, a timeless classic that resonates deeply with audiences worldwide. The Tony Award-winning musical, authored by Frank Loesser, creates a caricature of the corporate world that will leave you in splits.

The Musical Extravaganza

Slated to run from September 5 to 22, this deluxe musical affair acutely portrays the grit and grind of the corporate lifestyle through the eyes of its main protagonist, J. Pierrepont Finch. The heartwarming comedy illustrates Finch’s ascent through the corporate ladder amid a myriad of political maneuvering, typical bureaucratic hassle, and occasionally, deception.

The story comes alive under the direction of Max Quinlan, who, in his early performing days, was introduced to the musical playing the lead role of Finch. With an incredible score, comedic moments, and a Pulitzer Prize-winning script, the musical has always been a favorite for Quinlan. “It’s a great comedy and a great satire,” Quinlan exclaims, highlighting the elements that make this musical a classic.

Pursuing Happiness

This musical marks the commencement of the 99th season for Greenville Theatre, aligning perfectly with their annual theme- “The Pursuit of Happiness”. Finch’s journey, which begins with a determined chase of success, takes an emotional detour as he stumbles upon love, forcing him to redefine his understanding of success and happiness.

Dance, Music and More

Apart from presenting a thought-provoking narrative, this production promises a spectrum of musical delights including tuneful ballads and full ensemble showstoppers. Michael Cherry, the choreographer for this dance-heavy show, and musical director Victoria Adams, intend to deliver an unforgettable experience.

A Look Ahead

As the 99th season takes off, Max Quinlan is preparing ardently for Greenville Theatre’s momentous 100th year celebration. Plans are already afoot to involve the audience in deciding the lineup for the next season. As Quinlan foresees it, the centenary celebration will encompass a blend of old favorites and fresh scripts, marking a tribute to the past, present, and future of the theatre.
