Greenville Technical College Named 2024 Partner of the Year by Greenville County Schools

Greenville Recognizes Greenville Technical College as 2024 Partner of the Year

Greenville County Schools announced Greenville Technical College (GTC) as its 2024 Partner of the Year at the annual Salute to Education celebration banquet. This recognition highlights the crucial role that GTC plays in supporting student success and workforce development in the region.

Empowering Student Success

GTC has been instrumental in providing dual credit college opportunities to students in partnership with Greenville County Schools. Through the college transfer program, students are able to earn college credits at no cost while still in high school, giving them a head start on their higher education journey.

With the highest number of dually enrolled students in the state of South Carolina, GTC has established itself as a leader in offering pathways for students to seamlessly transition from high school to college.

Supporting Workforce Development

Not only does GTC focus on academic advancement, but it also plays a vital role in workforce development initiatives for GCS students. The college collaborates with industry partners to offer apprenticeship programs like Prisma Health’s nursing support assistant apprenticeship and technical scholar programs at Michelin and BMW.

By providing hands-on training and real-world experience, GTC helps prepare students for successful careers in high-demand fields, contributing to the growth of the local workforce.

Creating Pathways to Teaching

One of the innovative programs developed in partnership with GCS and Clemson University is the Expressway to Tiger Town initiative. This accelerated pathway-to-teaching program allows GCS students to pursue a career in education with degrees from both GTC and Clemson University.

By nurturing future educators and equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge, GTC is helping to shape the next generation of teachers in the Greenville community.

Addressing Education and Employment Barriers

In addition to academic and career-focused programs, GTC is committed to supporting student success through initiatives like OnTrack Greenville and Launch GVL. These partnerships aim to help students overcome barriers to education and employment, ensuring that all individuals have access to opportunities for personal and professional growth.

By providing resources and support services, GTC is dedicated to creating a more inclusive and equitable educational environment for all students.

Celebrating a Strong Partnership

As the 2024 Partner of the Year, Greenville Technical College has been recognized for its unwavering commitment to student success, workforce development, and community engagement. The strong partnership between GTC and Greenville County Schools continues to have a positive impact on the lives of students and the prosperity of the region.

By working together to provide innovative programs and opportunities, GTC and GCS are paving the way for a brighter future for all members of the Greenville community.
