Greenville, SC – Greenville County Schools has announced Chelsey Troutman as the 2024-25 Teacher of the Year during a celebration held on August 6. Troutman is a dedicated third-grade teacher at Brushy Creek Elementary School in Taylors, known for her engaging teaching methods and commitment to her students.
The event also honored the runners-up for this prestigious title. The first runner-up is Bryan Raeckelboom, a building-construction instructor at Golden Strip Career Center. Karla Cannon, a Spanish teacher at Riverside High School, took the second runner-up spot, while Frances McNeely, who teaches math at Wade Hampton High School, was recognized as the third runner-up.
The journey to selecting the Teacher of the Year began last fall when each school in the district nominated their own teacher of the year. Following this, applications were evaluated by several screening and selection committees, ensuring a fair and thorough process.
During the celebration, the district also revealed the 2024-25 First Class Teachers and Emerging Teachers of the Year. The First Class Teachers, sponsored by Public Education Partners, highlight two standout first-year teachers: Megan Stanton from Summit Drive Elementary School and Will Cooper from Mauldin High School.
The Emerging Teachers of the Year, sponsored by Greenville Federal Credit Union, spotlight two second or third-year teachers. This year’s recipients are Eliza Morgan, a first-grade teacher at Lake Forest Elementary School, and Annie Miller, a Spanish teacher at Greer High School.
Superintendent Burke Royster attended the event, commending the exceptional efforts of all the teachers recognized. The honorees reflect the district’s commitment to educational excellence and community involvement.
Greenville County Schools continues to celebrate outstanding educators who are paving the way for future generations through innovative teaching and dedication to their students.
