Greenville Faces Challenges from Storm Damage and Power Outages

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Residents in Greenville are dealing with the aftermath of a severe storm that struck the area late Tuesday night, resulting in widespread power outages. As of Wednesday morning, over 10,000 customers in Greenville County were reported to be without electricity due to the damage caused by the storm that included more than 400 lightning strikes.

Impacts on Schools and Businesses

The storm’s effects have led to significant changes for local schools and businesses. The following updates have been provided:

  • Greenville Zoo will be closed on Wednesday.
  • The Small Business & Economic Development Town Hall at Prisma Health Welcome Center has been cancelled.
  • Greenville County Administration Office will open at noon.
  • Greenville Middle Academy is currently operating as normal, although it is without power. Restoration is expected by noon.
  • Stone Academy is also functioning normally despite power issues, with expectations of restoration by noon.
  • Cleveland Park Animal Hospital is closed until further notice.
