GREENVILLE, S.C. – This year, Greenville had the honor of hosting the eagerly anticipated South Carolina New Play Festival from August 8 to 11. Attendees were treated to an array of events including musicals, plays, town halls, an outdoor variety stage, and a Broadway Cabaret.
The festival’s stage was shared by multiple city-wide venues, such as The Gunter Theatre at the Peace Center, CentreStage, The Warehouse Theatre, Greenville Theatre, South Carolina Children’s Theatre, Falls Park, and the Greenville One Center.
Local Broadway star and TONY nominee Phillip Boykin captivated the audience with his tale of theatrical triumph on August 11 at the Greenville One Center. Stirring musical performances from notable shows like Hadestown and Music Man further added to the charm of the evening.
Keeping up the Festival’s tradition of surprises, attendees were entertained by several free outdoor circus shows performed at Falls Park on August 11. Combining storytelling, comedy, and acrobatics, these shows were arranged from 3 p.m. onwards as detailed below:
