Greenville to Stage Comedic Adaptation of Sherlock Holmes with “Ms. Holmes & Ms. Watson – Apt. 2B”

Detective Duo Comedy Twist

Greenville Welcomes a Hilarious Twist on an Iconic Duo

Greenville is gearing up for a unique theatrical experience as “Ms. Holmes & Ms. Watson – Apt. 2B” takes the stage at The Warehouse Theatre. This production, directed by the talented Jay Briggs, offers a contemporary spin on the classic Sherlock Holmes stories penned by Arthur Conan Doyle. As many fans know, the detective duo has been beloved for ages, and now they are being ushered into the modern age with a refreshing and comic flair.

Get Ready for Laughter and Mystery

The show promises to deliver a fast-paced narrative filled with mishaps and humor. Opening on September 13, this production is a perfect way to kick off The Warehouse’s 51st season, and audiences are in for a treat. Briggs describes the play as “full of hijinks,” which sets the tone perfectly for this modern take on mystery-solving.

In this rendition, we see Sherlock Holmes transformed into a young British woman who is just as much a crime-fighting genius as her male counterpart. The twist doesn’t stop there; she is joined by Joan Watson, an American woman who becomes not just her partner in solving crimes but also her roommate. And let’s just say, they make quite an odd couple. The combination of their distinct personalities generates a dynamic that is both hilarious and relatable.

Meet the Talented Cast

In the role of Sherlock Holmes, Eliza Pagelle captivates with her high-energy performance. “The story focuses on the joy of the mystery,” explains Pagelle. “This iteration is a little sillier than the original stories or the TV and screen adaptations. It’s laugh-your-face-off hilarious.” With her comedic talent shining through, Pagelle’s portrayal promises to be a highlight of the show.

Opposite her, Meredith Bennett plays Watson, bringing her own flair to the character. The cast also includes Shelli Delgado and Carter Allen, who take on multiple roles throughout the play. Pagelle emphasizes the skill of the entire cast, stating, “These actors are really working at the top of their craft. I pride myself on taking my job seriously, but honestly, I’m having trouble not laughing as we rehearse.”

A Welcoming Homecoming

For Eliza Pagelle, returning to Greenville is an exciting chapter in her career. She grew up in the area and honed her craft at the Greenville County Schools Fine Arts Center and the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities. After spending two years in New York City where she landed roles in various productions, including a gender-swapped version of Hamlet and an upcoming role in a Bob Dylan biopic, she’s thrilled to be back on stage where it all began. “I grew up watching the stars of the Upstate theater scene perform at The Warehouse, so it’s a dream come true to return,” she said.
